This company has a large fleet of modern and traditional launches and ‘steamers’ which operate the full length of Lake Windermere calling at Waterhead (Ambleside), Bowness and Lakeside Piers.
They offer a wide range of cruise options from 24-48 hour Freedom of the Lake tickets which allow visitors to ‘hop on and off’ to explore, to 45 minute purely sightseeing trips.  Parking is available for visitors taking the ‘Park and Sail’ cruise.
Windermere is a long lake with a variety of scenery.  Lakeside Pier is at the southernmost end of the lake.   It is home to one end of the heritage Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and the freshwater Lakes Aquarium.  The scenery is wooded hills with secluded bays.
Bowness-on-Windermere Pier is a major departure point
Bowness-on-Windermere Pier is the major departure point with quite a few facilities.  The company hires rowing boats and two types of motor cruisers from this departure point.  Within 5 minutes walk of the pier are all manner of shops, restaurants, cafés and the World of Beatrix Potter Visitor Attraction (not to be confused with Beatrix Potter’s actual home Hill Top at Near Sawrey).
The real mountain scenery is at the northern end of the lake.  Waterhead Pier is the arrival point for pretty Ambleside town where a little stream rushes past old stone cottages nestling below gently rolling fells and majestic mountains.  This is a good spot to get off and explore.
Disabled Access
Cruises marked in black on the timetable are wheelchair accessible via a ramp from the pier to the boat.  Unfortunately toilets on board are down a number of steps but Disabled Toilet facilities are available on each pier. Refer Ferries website below for details.
