The Queen’s
Own Hussars Museum
60 High Street
Warwickshire CV34 4BH
This fine military museum is located within the splendid half-timbered Lord Leycester Hospital in Warwick High Street.
The history of the Hussars is comprehensively covered from its foundation in the late 17th century. The Queen’s Own Hussars was the senior light cavalry regiment in the British Army.
The Collection features artefacts and personal stories from both the Regiment’s glory days as a horse mounted cavalry regiment to its modern incarnation as a tank regiment.
The Hussars played a decisive role in the Battle of El Alamein during World War II, and this is recalled with a state-of-the-art reconstruction of an Afrika Korps Observation Post.
The collection also covers the early battlefields of Dettingen and Waterloo to the present. There are interactive displays, uniforms, and weapons together with the latest in computer technology.
