Babbacombe Model Village
Hampton Avenue
Devon TQ1 3LA
The Model Village in pretty Babbacombe, near Torquay is well worth visiting. It is set in 4 acres (1.6 hectares) of gardens in a steep valley overlooking beautiful Lyme Bay.  The village is a hive of activity with over 400 model buildings and around 1,000 ft (300 metres) of working model train track.
Like much real England, the model country village is now bordered by a substantial modern town.  There are still the delightful thatched cottages, farms and stately homes but modern innovations have been included such as a wind farm, a satellite dish, and a hydro-electric dam.
Visitors will recognise well known shops and brand names.  There is a stadium complete with a football match in progress, a house on fire with the fire service in attendance, entertainment venues, factories and vehicles, not to mention over 13,000 miniature people.
A castle and well known monuments such as Stonehenge and landmarks are included.  One of the loveliest features is the miniature landscaped gardens.  A lot of humorous touches have been added so keep your eye open for the confectionary shop called ‘Annie Seedballs’ and the streakers interrupting the football match.
