Totnes Markets
Civic Hall Square
Devon TQ95

Totnes has been an important market and trading centre since medieval times. The narrow streets are crammed with shops and galleries selling all manner of interesting goodies ranging from whole foods to second hand antiquarian books.

Many creative people, some seeking alternative lifestyles, have made their home in Totnes and the variety of shops reflect their activities.  The visitor will find establishments selling fine arts, antiques, second hand and antiquarian books, handmade shoes, ceramics, unusual boutiques, handmade furniture, musical instruments, crystals and complementary therapies.

Weekly Markets
As befits a market town, Totnes has weekly markets on Friday and Saturday held in the Civic Square.  During the summer season (May to September) there is also a Tuesday market.  As an additional attraction, the square is home to the small Elizabethan market when some stall-holders dress in Elizabethan costume for the event.

Stalls sell everything from bonsai trees, bric a brac and didgeridoos to locally grown plants, fresh local vegetables and organic bread.

At any time of year the visitor can find a pub or restaurant featuring live music ranging from traditional folk to sophisticated modern jazz, while buskers and street entertainers add colour to the street scene during the day.
