Kent TN26 3QQ
One of the pretty villages just 5 miles (8 km) east of Tenterden in south-east England is Woodchurch.  The village nestles around a village green overlooked by a fine example of a Kentish smock mill - Woodchurch Windmill was built in the 18th century and is open for public inspection.  A footpath beside the Bonny Cravat pub leads up to the mill.
All Saints Church
In the centre of the village is the 13th century All Saints Church, built of ragstone. This interesting little church has a spire roofed with wooden shingles and amongst its monuments are two fine monumental brasses.  The finest is a small, rare brass of a priest in ceremonial vestments in a Cross from 1330, and the other is a kneeling armed man accompanied by his two wives, dating from 1558.
Twenty of the houses surrounding the village green date from the 16th century and over 80 are listed as built before 1700.    Diamond Farm, Henden Place and Woodchurch Place (now Place Farm) are even older, dating from the 15th century.
Two village pubs
There are two village pubs to visit, the Bonny Cravat is opposite the church, and The Six Bells (a CAMRA pub) in the northern end of the village.  Both serve food.
During summer, visitors are likely to witness a local cricket match in progress on the village green, and May Day is celebrated with Morris Dancers performing.
Two other attractions close to Woodchurch are the Woodchurch Village Life Museum and the South of England Rare Breeds Centre which is very popular with children.
