The popular Kent & East Sussex (K&ESR) Heritage Railway in south-east England runs between Tenterden Town and Bodiam.  The 10½ mile (16.8 km) line travels through typical Wealden countryside past half-timbered Yeoman’s cottages, across the marshes and along the wide River Rother valley before arriving at Bodiam with its medieval moated castle.

There are several beautifully restored stations along the way and opportunities to see a crayfish farm, maybe glimpse wild boar in the woodlands or swans feeding on the marshlands, and Romney sheep grazing beside the line on the way to Bodiam.  The route passes through Rolvenden, Wittersham Road and Northiam.

A one way trip on the line takes approximately 50 minutes while the return trip of 1¾ hours includes a 20 minute turn around at the terminus.  There are up to five services a day hauled by steam or vintage diesel engines.

The K&ESR offers all day hop-on, hop-off Rover fares allowing unlimited travel along the full length of the railway. Visitors can stop off to explore at any station - to visit Bodiam Castle for example, or to look over the loco yard at Rolvenden.

The railway is professionally run with excellent facilities.  A great day out can be experienced visiting this delightful and interesting railway.
