Shakespeare's BirthdayStratford upon Avon

Every year, on the Saturday closest to St George’s Day (23 April), Stratford-upon-Avon stages a wonderful pageant celebrating the birthday of William Shakespeare.

This pageant takes the form of a procession led by the boys of King Edward VI Grammar School (William Shakespeare’s old school) to Holy Trinity Church, Stratford. Also included are children from local schools, members of the Royal Shakespeare Company and Ambassadors from dozens of countries.
There are of course many tourists who have converged on the Town especially for this pageant who join the procession with their floral tributes. All file through the Church and place their flowers on the Bard’s grave in the Chancel.
This is all to the sound of the Holy Trinity Church, Stratford church's bells and the music of its organ.
