Batsford Arboretum Cirencester
Batsford Park
Gloucestershire GL56 9AB
This is a wonderful private collection of rare trees, shrubs, Japanese cherries, maples and bamboos, and wild flowers set in 55 acres (22.3 hectares) of beautiful Cotswold country.
Batsford Arboretum is only 1¼ miles (2 km) North West from the village of Moreton-in-Marsh and is acclaimed as one of the jewels of the Cotswolds.
The Arboretum is at its best during spring, summer and autumn.  In springtime visitors will see the bare trees and shrubs wearing new soft green foliage with wildflowers carpeting the ground beneath.  Flowering trees come into bloom and fruits set ready for summer.  In autumn the arboretum is a blaze of red and gold as the leaves get ready to fall in winter.
The Batsford collection covers a wide range of plants from around the world but with an emphasis on the Orient. They advise that there are over 3,050 labelled species including 1,600 different trees, shrubs and bamboos.
The Arboretum is currently expanding its visitor facilities and expanding its events particularly designed for children.  A visit to the Cotswold Falconry Centre can be combined with a visit to the Arboretum making for a different day out.  During the Season Batsford offers combined Arboretum/Falconry tickets at a reduced price.
