Venns Lane
Herefordshire HR1 1DE
For wide-ranging views over the City of Hereford and the Welsh borderlands, Churchill Gardens is the park to visit.
The Gardens are located on the west side of Venns Lane and the north side of Aylestone Hill. Because they are a little further out of town than Castle Green, they are quiet and less crowded. Benches dotted around the gardens make them ideal for picnics.
Because of the park’s position overlooking the city, a beacon has been erected on the south-east edge of the park, adjacent to Aylestone Hill.
A special feature of Churchill Gardens is the fragrant garden containing plants known for their aromatic traits. Visually impaired visitors will especially enjoy this area - so often garden designers forget what an important part smell plays in a blind person’s life.
The mini arboretum is a popular place for casual strollers as well as dog walkers.
