Local Ferries, Poole
Dorset BH19 3BA

Poole is built around a large harbour and some of its attractions can only be reached by ferry.

Instead of travelling around the harbour to get to destinations on the Isle of Purbeck, a vehicle and pedestrian ferry crosses the harbour mouth at Sandbanks and saves a 25 mile (40 km) return road trip.

The Bournemouth-Swanage Motor Road and Ferry Company runs regular pedestrian and vehicle ferry services across the harbour mouth.
This ferry takes 48 vehicles each time and is economical when considering the price of fuel. Delays can be experienced due to heavy demand during the summer months.
