Derwentwater is one of the best lakes on which to take a cruise as the launch is always stopping at jetties to pick up and let off passengers.  In a 50 minute cruise the boat makes six stops to allow visitors access to the many beauty spots and walks around the lake.  Services run all year.

The main departure point is Keswick Boat Landings where cruise ferries depart either in a clockwise or an antic-clockwise direction around the lake.  It is these delightful boats that visitors overlooking the lake from the dizzying heights of Surprise View can see calling into jetties around the lake.

The six landing stages the boats call in to after leaving Keswick Boat Landings are Ashness, Lodore, High Brandelhow, Low Brandelhow, Hawes End, and Nichol End.  For the route around the lake go to Web:  Keswick Launch Co/ Map

The Company also operates a boat hire service in the summer months with rowing boats and self-drive outboard motorboats available.

Click on the excellent official website for up to date details of summer and winter sailings, different types of fares and options for visitors.  Their FAQ’s section answers most queries including on where to disembark for good places to get a meal and a drink.
