The Wye Valley and Forest of Dean in West England are well known for their outdoor activities.

Since 1986 the Wye Dean Canoe & Adventure Centre (WCAC) has provided exciting and safe activities for people of all ages and abilities. The WCAC is a family run business, based in Symonds Yat East.

Kayaking & Canoeing
The WCAC not only hires out canoes and kayaks to experienced paddlers but also provides tuition for beginners. Sessions last 3 hours and there is plenty of placid water to learn and practice strokes. The New Weir Rapids are only a short paddle away where the thrill and excitement of white water is waiting for those who want to give it a go.

Wyedean Canoe advise that all instructors are fully qualified and hand-picked for their skills and river knowledge.

- Rock Climbing
Climb the Symonds Yat limestone cliffs with professional instructors. Heights range fromm 10 metres to 30 metres plus. A 3 hour climbing session is conducted either on the Centre’s waterside cliffs or at Symond Yat Rock.

- Ropes Courses Woodland High and low rope course with ropes ranging from 2 feet (61cms) above the ground to 30 feet (9 metres). Elements include 100M Zipline; Leap Of Faith; Jacobs Ladder and Gorge Walk.

Each 3 hour session is guided by a highly qualified professional instructor and uses the latest safety equipment. Courses are tailored to the specific abilities of the participants.

- Raft Building A fun activity for all the family. Teams design and build their own rafts under the guidance of a qualified instructor. Each raft is made up of 4 barrels, 8 wooden poles and as much rope as is needed.

When all the teams’ rafts are ready participants get kitted up with paddles, buoyancy aids and helmets and complete a series of challenges against each team. This is a 3 hour session.

- Caving This is real underground exploring involving walking, crawling and shuffling through miles of passageways into vast open caverns with stalactites and stalagmites. A 3 hour session starts from the WCAC and entails a short walk to the start of the caves. All instructors are qualified cave leaders.

Dressed in a boiler suit, helmet and light, cavers are given a brief explanation of where they are going. The instructor then leads the group into the cave. The natural caves around Symonds Yat and the Forest of Dean are ideal for both novice and experienced cavers.

- Archery This is an all-weather activity conducted in the Centre’s private, purpose built archery range.
