In comfortable surroundings with traditional table service, the tearoom offers a varied menu which includes full English breakfast, Ploughman's lunch, quiche and freshly made sandwiches. Alongside these meals the tea room also serves the very special Tiptree Cream Tea.

Open
Monday – Saturday: 09:30 – 17:00 hours. Closes 1 hour earlier in winter.
Closed Sundays and over the Christmas period.

The Batte-Lay tea room is named after Victor Batte-Lay, a local art collector whose widow purchased The Minories in 1956, thus providing a permanent site for collections of art to be displayed in Colchester, encouraging local artists and students to engage with the community
