The Heritage Vaults are on the South side of Bath Abbey.

These vaults are accessible from outside the Abbey in the churchyard, or from inside the Abbey through the door to the right of the Altar.

In carefully restored 18th century cellars are exhibits from the Abbey’s past. The presentation is quite comprehensive with stonework and artifacts dating back to Saxon and Medieval times. One of the exhibits is the skeleton of a woman who was found buried with the monks.

One of the aims of the Vaults Museum is to display the excavated remains of the numerous buildings which previously occupied the site of the current Abbey Church. The finds cover 1600 years of Christian occupation of the site.
